About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Microbiologist to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of this world-leading product. You will become part of a close-knit team of 11 colleagues, working together in Sysmex Astrego’s laboratory in Uppsala, Sweden.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology, with a focus on clinical diagnostics and research. As a microbiologist with us, you will be responsible for leading projects, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the development of new diagnostic technologies.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage microbiological research projects.
- Develop and validate new diagnostic assays.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior microbiologists.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance product development.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality control procedures.
- Analyze and interpret complex microbiological data.
- Prepare and present scientific reports and publications.
- Conduct hands-on laboratory work, including sample preparation, testing, and analysis.
- Utilize Sysmex Astrego's advanced diagnostic systems for analytical tests.
Your Profile
We are looking for someone who is structured, analytical, and able to take independent responsibility for their tasks. Since we work in a larger team, you should enjoy working closely and collaboratively with your colleagues.
- PhD in Microbiology or related field, or Master's degree in Microbiology or related field with additional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical microbiology or diagnostic research for PhD holders, or minimum of 8 years of experience for Master's degree holders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality assurance practices.
- Experience in the field of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills in English, written and spoken
- Strong communication skills in Swedish, written and spoken, is considered an asset
